It's official: EURO 2020 in St. Petersburg is confirmed! The European Football Championship will be held in 12 cities, as previously planned. This is reported by the press service of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Previously, it was suggested that the tournament would be held in one country or a small group of countries. One possible option that received support was for England to host the championship alone or together with Scotland and Ireland. However, after evaluating all the available information, UEFA expressed confidence that the tournament can be held in accordance with the original plan.
The European Championship will be held from June 11 to July 11, 2021, it was postponed for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The tournament is scheduled to be held in 12 European cities: St. Petersburg, London, Munich, Baku, Rome, Bucharest, Dublin, Copenhagen, Bilbao, Glasgow, Budapest, and Amsterdam. St. Petersburg will host three group stage matches and one of the quarterfinals. In Group B, the Russians will play with the Belgians, Danes, and Finns, and the national team will play two matches in St. Petersburg.
